6th period assignment - 10/31

What is the difference between the three rules:
 (4x, 4y)
(x + 4 , y + 4)
(4x + 4 , 4y + 4)

(Think – how would the rules effect a shape with different points on a coordinate plane – what would each rule do to the shape? How are they different from each other? Would each rule create a similar shape? How do you know?)

Think of it as if you are dealing with a square on a graph. The first rule will make the square 4 times larger and won't move it up, down, left, or right. It would be similar because the lengths of the new square are 4 times longer with the same angles. The second rule will move the square right 4 points and up 4 points, making it similar and congruent. it is congruent because all that you are doing is moving it and not changing the side lengths at all. The third rule will both make the square 4 times larger and also move it 4 points right and 4 points up. It would end up moved and larger thereby it would be similar.

The First rule would increase the size of the object because multiplication & division enlarge and shrink the object. The second rule would be moving the object on a coordinate plane because whenever you add or subtract, you are changing the location of the object. And the third one would be doing both, moving the object on a coordinate plane and changing the size. All these rules would create similar objects since your changing the x and y coordinates proportionally.

The first rule (4x+4y)will enlarge by four times,so it is the same shape, but different size. In this rule we are multiplying by four,so the object is enlarged. When you divide, the image will decrease. The second rule (x+4,y+4)will move the object 4 units to the right and 4 units up. The object will be congruent and moved.
The third rule(4x + 4 , 4y + 4) will enlarge by 4 times and move to right and up 4 times. The image will be similar.

The first rule would increase the size of the figure, because the y and x-axis are being multiplied. The first figure would be similar, because the xa nd y-axis are beeing multiplied by the same number. The second rule would move the figure up and to the right because the x-axis is beeing added which moves the object to the right, and the y-axis is being added which moves he object up. The second object is similar, because the x and y-axis are beeing added by the same number. The third rule would increase the size of the object and move it up and to the right, because the y-axis is being added and multiplied and so is the x-axis. The third figure would be similar, because the x and y-axis are beeing added and multiplied by the same numbers. Figure one would be as the original figure would just moved to the right, because the x and y-axis are beeing multiplied. the second would be in the same spot on the graph, but just enlarged. The second object would be moved, because it's beeing added The third object would be moved and enlarged because the x and y-axis beeing multiplied and added.

well the first one you are multiplying both the x and the y by four. Since the x and the y are being multipled by the same number it would just inlarge the figure. The second one is adding four to the x and the y. This means the figure will move up four and out four.the third one you are both enlarging and adding. This means the figure will enlarge and also move four up and four out.

add or sub. move

multiply. size

The first one would make the shape bigger but the second one would just move the shape around. Then the last one would make the shape move around and make it bigger. And yes, all these rules would keep the shape similar because it’s all changing proportionally.

The first rule would increase the figure because the x and y axis are being multiplied by four. The second rule would just move the figure around but it would be simaler because the x and y axis are being added by the same number which is four and didn't change the shape it changed the location. The third one would increase the size and move it to a diffrent location because the x and y axis are both being multiplied and added by 4 it would increase the size because we multiplied it by 4 and it would change location because we added it by 4 it would be simaler because we did the same thing to the x and y axis.

The first rule will increase the size of the figure four times. The first rule is same shape different size. The second rule will move the figure four spaces up and four spaces to the right. The second rule is same size same shape so it is congruent. The third rule will increase the size of the figure four times and move the figure four spaces up and four spaces to the right. The third rule is same size different shape. All the rules will create a similar shape. Multiplying will enlarge a figure. Dividing will shrink a figure. Adding will move the figure to the right the x and up on the y axis. Subtracting will move the figure to the left the x and down on the y axis.

The 1st rule would just increase the size of the figure. The 2nd rule would just move the shape around. The 3rd rule would move the shape and make it bigger.

The first rule would enlarge the shape because when you multiply or divide you are either enlarging or reducing the image. The second rule would move the figure around on a coordinate plane because when you add or subtract you move the figure around. The third rule would enlarge the shape and move it around, because you are multiplying and adding. All of these rules, would create a similar image because you are changing the x and y axis proportionally.

The first rule will make the shape four times bigger. The second rule would just move the figure four times to the right and four times up. The third rule would make the shape four times bigger, four spaces to the right, and four spaces up.

The rule (4x, 4y) means that you are taking a figure and making it 4 times the size of the object, or original shape. The rule (x + 4 , y + 4) means that on a coordinate grid, you would be moving each plotted point up 4 and to the right 4. The rule (4x + 4 , 4y + 4) means that you are taking a figure and making it 4 times the size of the object, and you are moving each plotted point up 4 and to the right 4, on a coordinate grid. So, the first rule you are changing the shape, the second rule you are moving it, and the third rule you are changing the shape and moving it.

The first rule would be an enlargement by 4 because you are multiplying the x and y axis'. It will still be the same shape but different size. (similar) The second rule would be a movement, up 4 right 4 because you are adding the x and y axis'. The shape would be the same shape and size it will just be moved. (congruent, similar, moved) The third rule is an enlargement and movement because you are multiplying and adding by 4. It would be the same shape but different size. (similar)

In this question, the first rule will be four times bigger ( enlarged) ,so it is the same shape, but different size, which means the shape will be similar. The rule we applied was we were multiplying by four,so the object is enlarge, when you divide, the image will decrease. The 2nd rule, will move the object 4 units to the right and 4 units up. The object will be congruent and moved. The third rule will enlarge by 4 times and move to right and up 4 times, and this means the shape is similar.

The 1st rule will enlarge the figure 4 times the size of the object because you are multiplying 4 to the x and y axis. The second rule you would just move the image up 4 and to the right 4 times on the x and y axis. The last rule you would enlarge it by 4 again like the 1st rule then move the image to the right 4 times then up 4 times. All the images are now similar because they have same shape, but different size. The only one that is congruent is two because you just move the object so it will have the same shape and size.
Rule 1: similar Rule 2: similar and congruent Rule 3: similar

The first rule, (4x, 4y), means the object will enlarge 4 times. The image will be the same but the shape but a different size, so it will be similar. The second rule,(x+4,y+4), means the image will stay the same in size and shape, but the image will be moved 4 points to the right and up 4 points. The new image will be similar. The third rule, (4x+4, 4y+4), means the shape will enlarge 4 times, move 4times to the right, and up 4 times. Because it is the same shape and different size, this means that the shape is similar and congruent.

Each rule would make the shapes similar and here’s why:
The rule (4x, 4y) is just multiplying the shapes size by 4, therefore changing its size but not its shape. The rule (x+4, y+4) is just moving the shape 4 units to the right, and 4 units up making the shape congruent and similar! And the rule (4x+4, 4y+4) is moving the figure 4 units to the right, 4 units up, and expanding the figure making it similar!

1.(4x, 4y) is simply enlarging the figure. You are multiplying the coordinates by 4. The perimeter will be 4 times bigger than the original shape. The area would be 16 times bigger because 4 squared is 16. The new shape would be similar.
2.(x+4, y+4) means you are adding 4 to the coordinate points. The area and the perimeter would stay the same. However the original shape has just been moved 4 to the right and 4 up on a coordinate graph.
3.(4x+4, 4y+4) means you multiply the coordinates by 4 and add 4 to the new number. This process is the exact same shape as (4x, 4y). The difference between them is that the process (4x+4, 4y+4) is 4 more points to the right and 4 more points up on a coordinate graph. The perimeter will be 4 times bigger than the original shape. The area would be 16 times bigger because 4 squared is 16. The new shape would be similar.

The object would still stay the same shape for the first rule. But it will be 4 times bigger because both the x and y axis are being multiplied by 4.Which would make it similar but not congruent because it is 4 times bigger. The second rule would just move the figure 4 to the right on the x axis. Also on the y axis the figure will be moved up 4 because it is a positive. This would make the object similar and congruent, because it is just moving the object 4 up and 4 to the right. The third rule it would object to the right 4. Also it would move it up 4 and since it is multiplying by 4 it will be the same as the object in the first rule. But it will just be moved like the second rule. This would make it a similar object but not congruent because it was multiplied by 4.

In this question
the first part of this is enlargement.
the second part is adding up the numbers to the coordinates
the third part is adding four to the coordinates.

For (4x, 4y) the shape would larger.
For (x + 4 , y + 4) the shape would move to the right on the x-axis, and up on the y-axis.
For (4x + 4 , 4y + 4) the shape would get larger and move up and to the right.

Yes, all of these rules would keep the shape similar because it’s all changing proportionally.

Unknown said...

The first rule would make the shape increase by 4x and it wouldnt move at all just gets bigger. The second rule would make the shape go up on the y axis and to the right on x axis. The third rule would make the shape get larger by 4x and would go up on the y axis and go to the right x axis. all of them are similar same shape diffrent size.

Unknown said...

Rule 1 (4x, 4y) The shape will proportionally enlarge, because it is multiplying by size. The shape is still similar.
Rule 2 (x + 4, y + 4) The shape is moving on the coordinate grid. The shape is then moving up to the right. The shape is congruent to the object. The shape is still similar.
Rule 3 (4x + 4, 4y + 4) The shape is proportionally enlarging and it is moving up and right on the coordinate grid. The shape is still similar.
The rules are different because in rule one the shape is enlarging. But in rule two, the shape is congruent, just on a different spot on the coordinate grid. The rule that would create a similar shape is all of them. They will still be the same shape, just a different size or place on the coordinate grid. I know this because if you plot a triangle on a coordinate grid you would get the described outcome.

The 1st one your multiplying the x and the y by 4. Well, the x and the y are being multiplied by the exact same number all it is doing is making the figure bigger. The 2nd one is adding four to both x and the y. This means the shape will move up four spaces and right four spaces. The 3rd one your making it bigger and adding. so the shape will get bigger and move four up and four right.

for the first one, (4x, 4y), the figure is being enlarged proportionally, therefore making this shape similar. for the second rule, (x+4, y+4) the figure is being moved four digits up, and four digits to the right. this shape is similar as well. the last shape, (4x+4, 4y+4), is sort of a combination of the two. it's being moved up 4, moved right four, and being enlarged proportionally. it is congruent to the first shape and similar to the second one. how do i know this? i was taught this all week.

For the first one, the figure will enlarge and also be proportionally. This means that it will be a similar image with all angles the same. This will be congruent because all you are doing is moving it. The third is enlarging by 4, moving up 4, and going to the right 4. This means that the figure is similar but not congruent. This The second, the object is being moved up 4 points and to the right 4 points. This figure is because the figure is enlarging by 4, so it is not same shape same size.

This is my explanation to the three points at the top.
the first point will increase in size, but stay the same in angle size, but stay similar to the original points object.
the second rule will get bigger by 4 points, so it will increase just by adding 4 to the original points.
the third rule will be enlarged on the size and height, and width by 4, because the points are basically just being multiplied by 2 then added 4 to them

This is mackenzie kirksey btw

These rules are very different. Rule (4 x, 4y,) makes the shape 4 times bigger. When (x+4.y+4) moves the shape 4 squares up and 4 to the right. The last rule, (4x+4, 4y+4), does what both of the other rules do at the same time. Each rule makes a similar shape because it would time in peroration or stays the same just moves.
