5th period assignment - due by 10/31

What is the difference between the three rules:

(4x, 4y)
(x + 4 , y + 4)

(4x + 4 , 4y + 4)

(Think – how would the rules effect a shape with different points on a coordinate plane – what would each rule do to the shape? How are they different from each other? Would each rule create a similar shape? How do you know?)

For these rules the first one would be similar to the original object except enlarged. The reason why is because it would be the same shape but different sizes. This rule would be proportional. For the second rule it would be the exact same shape or congruent. On a coordinate grid you see it would only change its location. Last the bottom rule would be the first two combined it would get 4 times bigger and change its location on the coordinate grid to the right.

For the first one it would increase the size of the object since multiplication & division enlarge and reduce the object. The next one would move the object up, down, left, or right because whenever you add or subtract you change the coordinates of your current object. So for the final one would be moving it in both ways. Moving the object on a up, down, left, or right and reducing or enlarging the size of your shape. So basically all of these rules make similar objects since you are changing the x and y coordinates .

The difference between the three rules is that the first one would just be similar to the figure you are enlarging. The coordinate points will be two times more than the original shape’s coordinates. The shape and perimeter of the shape will be twice the size of the object, while the area is four times the object. The second rule will move the shape to the right, and also up some. Because when adding, it will keep the shape the same size, but it will not keep the shape in the same place, it will move the location. The third rule will be a combination of the first and second rule. It will keep the shape in proportion and enlarge it by four more times than the object. The rule will also move the shape to the right and also up some. (When you are multiplying by the same numbers on the X and Y axis, it will either enlarge or reduce the size of the object, but it will keep the shape the same. When adding to the number on the X and Y axis, it will move the shape to the right, and up some. When subtracting from the number on the X and Y axis, it will move the shape to the left, and down some.)

For the first rule the shape would be enlarged and would become simalier to the original object. The second rule would be moved to the right a bit (X-axis) and to the left a bit also (Y-axis). This would onlym move the second rules location. Finaly the last rule would be four times bigger thatn the original object and would be moved to the right and up just like the second rule.

For the first rule, it would make the image 4 times bigger than the object, and it would be similar because it's change proportionally.
For the second rule, the image would be congruent, just moved 4 units to the right and 4 units up.
For the last rule, the image would be both larger (4x) than the object and moved 4 units up and right. It's still similar because they're both changed proportionally.

For the first rule (4x,4y) if you applied that to the figure would be 4 times the size, and the image would be similar to the object because it is changing the x and y proportionally.
For the second rule (x + 4 , y + 4) if you applied that to a figure the figure would move to the right (4), and up (4). The figure would not change in size, only location. The image and object would be congruent.
For the third rule (4x + 4 , 4y + 4) if you applied that to a figure, the figure would be 4 times the size so the image is similar to the object because we increased the size of x proportionally (and moved). The figure would also move right 4, and up 4.

For the first rule the shape would enlarge, but the object and the image would still be similar (same shape different sizes). The perimeter would be 2 times larger and the area 4 times larger. The next rule would be the exact same shape just moved up and to the right on the coordinate graph. The perimeter and area would not change, because the object and image are congruent (same size same shape). For the very last rule, the image is similar to the object, because the object is only enlarging and being moved to the right and up. When you add a number to the x- axis the image will move to the right, and when you add a number to the y- axis the image will move up.

The difference between the three rules is that the first one (4x, 4y) enlarges equally because when you multiply both coordinates the shape increases in size proportionally. The next one (x+4, y+4) would just move in place in the coordinate grid because your adding to the coordinates which means it goes up and to the right. The last one (4x+4, 4y+4) would do both movements it would increase in size proportionally because you are multiplying and it would move up and to the right because you are adding to the (x) and (y) coordinates.

4x,4y Will quadruple in size. The image is similar to the object is changing proportionally.x+4,y+4 Will move to the right 4 and move up 4.Not changing the size just the location so the image and object are congruent.4x+4,4y+4 Will quadruple in size the image is similar to the object. One moves up and right,One quadruple in size, and One multiples and added at the same time.Yes,they would x+4,y+4 would only move.4x,4y would only quadruple in size.4x+4,4y+4would quadruple in size the image increases in size on the x and y axis proportionally.x+4,y+4 Would moving up 4 and right 4.You will see this in your notes.

The first rule for (4x,4y) the shape would get four times larger but would not go anywhere. The next rule, for (x+4,y+4) the image is similar to the object and it is changing the y and x proportionally. You will move to the right 4 squares and up 4 squares. but you wouldn’t change size, only location. the image and object will be congruent. (4x+4,4y+4) The image is similar and we increased the size of x and y proportionally. 4 up and 4 right.

For the 1st rule, the shape would get larger but it would stay the same shape. For the second rule, the shape is congruent. But, the shape moved on the coordinate grid. For the third rule, the shape will get larger and the shape will also move on the coordinate grid. The first and second rule are different because the second one moves and stays congruent, and the first one stays in the same place and gets bigger. They would all create a similiar shape because they stay the same porportianally.

The first rule(4x,4y)would be similar because the shape enlarged four times but doesn't move. The second rule, for (x+4,y+4) is also similar only this one does move, it moves 4 to the right and 4 up which causes it to change the y and x axis proportionally. The third rule is basically the first and second rule put together. It will keep the shape in proportion and enlarge four times than the object. The rule will also move the shape to the right 4 times and up 4 times. AND NO WAY KILEY I AM MRS.RYON'S FAVORITE STUDENT!!!!:)hahaha

The differences between these rules are that the first one, (4x, 4y), the shape would enlarge by four in size. The image is similar to the object because it is changing in the x and y proportionally. The perimeter of the shape will be twice the size of the object and the area will be four times the object.
The second rule, (x + 4, y +4), moves the coordinate points four to the right and up four. This rule only changes the location, not the size. The image and object are congruent.
The third rule, (4x + 4, 4y + 4), enlarges the shape by 4 in size and moves the coordinate points four to the right then four up. A pattern you may notice is that this rule combines both rule 1 and rule 2. Also, the image is similar to the object because we increased the size of x and y proportionally.

for the first rule it would be making the shape just 4 times bigger than it origanally was and the points would be multiplied by four to get the new shape or the image. The second rule would bemoving the object or original shape to the right 4 spaces on the graph. The third rule would enlarge the object and move it to the right four spaces making it the new shape or the image.

The rule (4x,4y) means that the image will be enlarged. It will be similar. The rule (x+4,y+4) means that the shape will right on the x-axis. It will also be moved up on the y-axis. The final rule(4x+4,4y+4) means that the image will be enlarged, but it will also be moved to the right and up. It is a combination of the 3 rules.
